Inspired by The Force: The Ultimate Action Figure Collection

The process of gathering data for Star Wars: The Ultimate Action Figure Collection was both tedious and long. Writing the book had it's own challenges with unique fixes.

Scouting the Galaxy with Steve Sansweet

This month's questions for Rancho Obi-Wan:

  • I've never been one of those people that lucked into an awesome garage sale find; have you? Or tell us about a favorite item you got dirt cheap.
  • What’s your favorite scene from any Star Wars film?

The ROW Experience: Tours in 2008

In 2008, still many years before the thought of forming a nonprofit museum, Steve was giving tours to school kids on a regular basis. It's always given Steve great joy to share the items from his collection. Seeing the emotion on people's faces or hearing their gasps as the door opens to the museum is life-affirming.

Inspired by the Force: 1,000 Collectibles

In early 2007 Abrams approached Lucasfilm for Steve to write a "365 days of collectibles" type book. Using the photos taken by Alex Ivanov as a foundation talks began on how the book would look. • What Star Wars character do you relate with and why?
  • Of the many Star Wars food promotions they've done over the years, which one is your favorite and why?

The ROW Experience: Smiles, Games, Stuff

What is the Rancho Obi-Wan Experience? It's more a feeling. It's nostalgia, excitement, joy, fun, unique. When you come to Rancho Obi-Wan we welcome you to our home. We introduce you to our animal-friends. We walk to the back barn and look at the rolling hills; and a few outdoor Star Wars things like a full-sized Jawa Sandcrawler tread. But it really hasn't changed over the years. Steve set the tone from the very beginning.

Inspired by the Force: The Photos of Alex Ivanov

Once upon a time, in mid-2006, DK Books approached Steve to write a Star Wars collectibles book for them. They envisioned a book with a photo of nearly everything in the collection (!!) with a price-guide format. They hired Alex Ivanov, former photographer for Industrial Light & Magic, for a total of 35 days expecting him to be able to photograph a majority of the collection during that time. It was not meant to be.
