Rancho Obi-Wan has curated a display of dozens of carefully selected pieces of Star Wars memorabilia for Toys “R” Us that will go on display in connection with the chain’s epic Destination: Star Wars program worldwide, culminating in Midnight opening at 12:01 AM Sept. 4, 2015.
The 25 separate memorabilia displays will be on public view at the company’s international flagship store in New York City, Toys “R” Us Times Square, from Wednesday Aug. 26 through Monday Sept. 7.
“We’re thrilled to be working with Toys “R” Us, especially since so many of the items on display were originally purchased from its stores and many still have the original price tags,” said Steve Sansweet, chief executive and president of Rancho Obi-Wan, the non-profit museum that houses the Guinness World Record-certified largest collection of Star Wars memorabilia.
In addition, Sansweet and Star Wars artist Jeff Carlisle will both appear at the Times Square store on Thursday Sept. 3 in conjunction with numerous activities leading to the midnight debut of toys based on the next chapter of the Star Wars Saga.
Sansweet is scheduled for a meet and greet and book signing at 2 PM and Carlisle is scheduled at 11 AM for a meet and greet and Star Wars art class. Both will also take part in a panel discussion for select lucky fans, which will also be livestreamed via Periscope @Toysrus on Twitter. See the Toys “R” Us website for a full schedule of events along with a list of many of the Rancho items covering all six live-action movies that will be on display.
