Rancho Obi-Wan is just that, a “Rancho.” It’s not big enough to be considered a “Ranch,” but it’s a charming little space just outside of Petaluma, Calif. We do, however, back up to larger fields and as such we have all kinds of wild animal visitors like deer, skunks, foxes, coyotes, weasels, badgers, and… turkeys.
Happenings: C2E2 2010
The first C2E2—the Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo—took place April 16 to 18, 2010 at Chicago’s main convention center, McCormick Place. Steve Sansweet was there representing Lucasfilm and gave a presentation on what was up at the company, including the continuing adventures of Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
The Importance of Patronage
Rancho Obi-Wan, Inc. is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that is member supported and does not receive funds from any national organizations, government grants, or loans. Funds raised are used for essential operating expenses such as insurance, utilities, professional services, maintenance on the buildings, rent of warehouse space, and protection and preservation of the collection. None are used to acquire collectibles.
Please help support Rancho Obi-Wan by subscribing or maintaining your subscription to the Rancho Obi-Wan Virtual Museum and making a tax-deductible donation for a Membership!
As a result of the current coronavirus pandemic, we have had to cancel all live events for 2020, including guided tours of the museum, and our annual Fundraising Gala. This significant loss of revenue makes it a difficult challenge to raise the necessary funds required to meet our operating expenses.
Your patronage will make it possible for Rancho Obi-Wan to continue to educate and inspire people by sharing the wonders of the collection online through the new Virtual Museum. Frankly, our very existence depends on your generous support. Thank you very kindly.

Scouting the Galaxy with Steve Sansweet
This month’s questions for Rancho Obi-Wan:
- I’ve never been one of those people that lucked into an awesome garage sale find; have you? Or tell us about a favorite item you got dirt cheap.
- What’s your favorite scene from any Star Wars film?
The ROW Experience: Tours in 2008
In 2008, still many years before the thought of forming a nonprofit museum, Steve was giving tours to school kids on a regular basis. It’s always given Steve great joy to share the items from his collection. Seeing the emotion on people’s faces or hearing their gasps as the door opens to the museum is life-affirming.

Behind-the-Scenes: Just One Room Circa 2006
In February 2006 I arrived at Rancho Obi-Wan with my computer, a trunk full of clothes and my cat Claire. It was my intention to stay for 6 months, do a complete catalog, and return home to Texas. That was now 14 years ago. The catalog is no anywhere done, but looking back, I can see the museum is now a lot cleaner.

Happenings: Star Wars Celebration III, Indianapolis, IN
Star Wars Celebration III took place from April 21 to 24, 2005 at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis, the site of Celebration II. The guest of honor was George Lucas himself, making his first fan convention appearance since the Star Wars 10th Anniversary con in 1987. Despite the date, there was a snowstorm overnight and the thousands of fans waiting in line outside to catch one of the three Lucas Q&A panels were ushered into the center to stay dry and warm.
