Actor, writer, producer Seth Green is, of course, a huge Star Wars fan. He has visited Rancho Obi-Wan more than once along with others (including producing partner Matt Senreich) from his Stoopid Buddy Stoodios production company (formerly Stoopid Monkey) in Southern California. It’s hard to forget the Star Wars bits on Adult Swim’s Robot Chicken along with the three special episodes that were parodies of the original trilogy movies. In 2013 George Lucas donated a parcel of land he owned in downtown San Anselmo, California, to a community foundation and paid to raze the commercial buildings on the lot. The Foundation constructed a lovely pocket park named Imagination Park on the grounds and Lucas, a longtime San Anselmo resident, donated two bronze statues to sit on a park fountain, one of Yoda and the other of Indiana Jones.

This month’s questions for Steve and Rancho Obi-Wan:
Star Wars Celebration Anaheim 2020 was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic. The Rancho Obi-Wan Experience booth was to exhibit a selection of items celebrating the 40th anniversary of The Empire Strikes Back. Conceptualized by our docents, Dan Norgan and Michelle Norgan, it would have taken you on a journey from concept to screen to collectible. Here is part 1 & part 2 of a Facebook Live showcasing many of the items that would have been on exhibit, plus others we would not have been able to bring. In addition, in part 1, take a tour through our bedroom exhibit that was installed at Star Wars Celebration Orlando 2017. In part 2, take a rare view of one of our back storage isles.

Once upon a time I was a contributor to Rebelscum.com. I’m still buddies with those folks and they might get a kick out of this Behind the Scenes peek. I found an email I wrote to them in February, 2007, one year after I arrived to catalog the collection. It provides a fascinating look at the day to day life here THREE years before Steve and I even thought of a nonprofit. Here is the email word for word along with the photos.
